Elderly man attacks firefighter after teens crash into Long Island home

A 70-year-old Long Island man is accused of hospitalizing a Bethpage firefighter after a car full of teenagers crashed into his Nassau County home.
The septuagenarian suspect, identified by police as Salvatore Conte, reportedly became upset with one of the firefighters responding to the crash on N. Windhorst Avenue. He allegedly shoved the unidentified rescue worker, causing the 52-year-old victim to injure his hip.
Conte is also accused of resisting arrest, with cops saying they were forced to use a Taser to subdue him.
The alleged assailant lived in the Bethpage home hit by a 16-year-old boy driving a black 2024 BMW Sunday afternoon. Video shot by 1010 Wins showed tire tracks in the lawn leading up to the front of the house, which appeared to suffer damage to a window and some siding.
The driver of the BMW reportedly lost control of the vehicle and collided into the home. He and his passengers, ages 16 and 17, were said to be uninjured. The condition of the car is unclear.
Charges against Conte include second-degree assault and obstructing governmental administration. He was arraigned on Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
